John has also served as an officer in both the permanent and reserve branches of the Australian Army for over 30 years and held senior command, personnel and training roles including a posting as a military observer with a UN mission to the Middle East.

John’s commercial management experience has been mostly in transport service industries, including road and airfreight, buses and coaches, airlines and stevedoring.
